Burrowing Owl Sculpture
This determined looking girl is a burrowing owl. They make a living running about, make their homes underground, and fly only short distances. The best thing about them from an artist's perspective (at least one interested in the emotion evoked by animals and their behaviors and postures) is their myriad of expressions, social behaviors and un-owllike shenanigans. Admittedly this intense look is a pretty common one for an owl but there will be more to come.
She is made of stoneware and decorated with brown underglaze in a purposely simple design. The blush around her feet and on her face comes from the clay my old studio used to make and their use of un-vented kilns (fired outdoors) which allowed chemicals from various glazes to flash onto nearby clay. She is one of my earlier pieces. She can stand alone but would be safer mounted. There are holes in the bottom of the feet to allow for this. I am willing to create a mount if desired.
7.25" tall, 3" wide, 3.5" deep

Unfortunately this piece suffered a slight mishap at the hands of a patron and had a break to her face. It has been repaired and is barely visible but you should know this ahead of time if you are interested in adding her to your home. Her price has been reduced to reflect the accident.
