This handsome girl would have become Sly but the scale was a bit off and she wouldn’t have fit into the kiln. I have taken to using a ruler and doing a bit of math to keep my larger pieces within my current 23″ limit. Sometimes you can even see my scribbled calculations in the edges of my sketchbook. The studio is installing a gas kiln which should allow me to push that a bit.
I am fond of these pictures because of the lighting which does a great job accentuating the planar form of the face.
