This large fox is one of a series which is not yet completed. It uses the same planar style but this time in a dark red clay. You can see 2 of the pieces I planned in the sketchbook page.
As my pieces expand in scale I am adapting the amount of reinforcement I incorporate and how the pieces are handled and dried before firing. The upper piece on the sketchbook page broke first before firing and again in the kiln. Happily this “Sly” girl who is in mid-stalk came through unscathed.
The smaller version is a maquette which I often do for my larger pieces.
