Early in my clay journey, when I had just started working in a studio, I wanted to do a series of arboreal animals. The 3-toed sloth is familiar from my time in Costa Rica and they have great expressions. This one lived happily in one of my houseplants for many years. I am revisiting those pieces and a new sloth sits on my studio shelf drying as I write this. They are both a on a small scale but I am planning to create a larger piece with the moths that eat the algae that lives in sloth fur.
