This Ornate Box Turtle has the coloring of those I used to see in West Texas. The males have green heads, striking red eyes, a brightly colored scales on their front legs. The hues are likely a way to attract females. It is more detailed than most of my pieces I think because I wanted to capture the beauty of the place I lived for so long.
