This piece was created during my tenure at the Helen Dewitt-Jones Center for the Arts Clay Studio in Lubbock, Texas. I loved watching the burrowing owls which inhabited old prairie dog burrows on the high plains. Their behavior is significantly different than that of other owls. These little guys spend more time running that flying, thus the long legs, and have some of the most diverse “expressions” seen in owls.
